Vibrant Colors in Scorpius

While many areas of Scorpius are worth looking at using a telescope, nothing brings out the colors like a photograph. This photograph shows the Antares nebula (bright yellow), the Rho Ophiuchi Nebula (blue), the Blue Horsehead Nebula, and many dark lanes of dust, known as the Rivers to Antares.

Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM
Celestron CGEM (Hypertuned)
Guide Scope/Camera:
Orion Astrograph 8" f/3.9 Newtonian
Exposure Details:
Camera settings were ISO 1600, f/4.5, 170-second exposure time. A total of 37 light frames, 10 dark frames, and 50 each of flat, dark flat, and bias frames were stacked to create this final composite image.
