The Iris Nebula (NGC7023)
Photographed by Scott Davis on July 8, 2013
From Golden State Star Party
Description: The Iris Nebula, also catalogued as NGC7023, is a beautiful reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus. The nebula itself is lit by the bright blue star SAO 19158, but longer exposures and processing reveal that the lit portion is but a small percentage of the rather large gas cloud in the region.
