The Iris Nebula (NGC7023)

The Iris Nebula, also known as NGC7023 and Caldwell 4, is a beautiful reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus. The nebula clouds themselves are lit by star SAO 19158, which lights up the nebula gas with brilliant blue reflected light. The nebula lies 1,300 light years from Earth.

Camera settings were ISO 1600, 60-second exposure. This image is a composite of 60 light frames and 20 dark frames. Processed using Scott Rosen's LLRGB processing method.
