Star Parties:
Directions to Hensley Lake Buck Ridge Recreation Area
Note: Buck Ridge is a day use area operated by the Army Corps of Engineers. We have special permission to be there on our regularly scheduled star party nights past the day use time. Also due to a new automated gate at the site please show up to the site before 8PM or have the phone number of someone coming to the site before you. We can’t override the gate from the outside but someone from the inside can trip the gate to let you in if you need to come late.
- From Fresno take Hwy. 41 North to Hwy. 145.
- At Hwy. 145 turn left and head West for about 8 miles to Rd. 33.
- Turn right at Rd. 33, in about 1 mile it will T into Rd. 400.
- Turn right at Rd. 400 continue on for about 9 miles until you see the sign for the Buck Ridge Recreation Area, turn left.
- Follow the road until it forks, turn right through the gate, the road climbs and curves to the left, as you reach the top you should see a playground and restrooms on your left.
- If you are bringing a telescope, turn left into the parking lot / observing area. No telescope? Continue straight into the parking lot and walk to the star party.
