C/2011 L4 PanSTARRS
Photographed by Scott Davis on March 22, 2013
From Eastman Lake, California
After many nights attempting to observe and photograph this comet from my house, I finally decided to go to our dark sky site to photograph it. It was a beautiful, clear, cold night, perfect for comet hunting. The landscape itself is brightly lit by a 70% waxing gibbous moon.
Canon EOS 60D
Canon EF 100mm f/2.0 USM
Camera settings were ISO 1600 and f/2.0. Nine one-second individual exposures were manually stacked to create this final image.
